Corn cob (high-feed) cutters carry multiple rows of indexable carbide inserts along a barrel-shaped body. Each tooth takes a thin cut, but because many teeth are engaged, the feed rate per tooth is exceptionally high.
This keeps cutting forces low and directed mainly axially, protecting the spindle and making the cutter ideal for roughing curved mould cavities and pre-hardened or hardened steel.
